Privacy, access & care

A quiet place,
clearly explained.

You should know what this activity does, what it does not do, and where you can ask for support.

Your messages stay in the current page.

The message board keeps its selected mode, message and optional typed words only in temporary page memory. It does not save them to a database, browser storage, a profile or an account. Reloading, leaving the board or closing the tab clears them. Reset clears your words and returns the board to its starting message.

The activity does not send your messages to AI, analyze them, put them in a link, or track which messages you choose. We do not ask for a child’s name, age, health information, drawings or uploads. Please do not type private details into the optional message box.

Printing is your choice.

Print this message opens your browser’s print dialog for the displayed words. Print all three message lines prints the fixed help, space and rest alternatives. You can cancel either dialog. This app does not upload a document for printing; your chosen printer, PDF destination or operating-system print service handles it.

Hosting still involves ordinary web requests.

This is a hosted website, not an offline tool. The hosting provider may process ordinary request information, such as an IP address, requested page and device/browser information, for delivery, security and operational logs. Original book illustrations may load from this site or the publisher’s server.

This companion adds no advertising, behavioral tracking, message analytics or session recordings. Hosting providers may still retain ordinary operational logs.

Publisher and historical-source links open separate sites in a new tab. Their own practices apply there. This companion has no login, checkout, child account or public sharing area.

Different ways to use this space.

Every picture prompt keeps equivalent readable words. You can use a keyboard, point to static text, read with someone, or print. There are no time limits, scores, required spoken responses or activities that simulate a disability.

A skip link, visible focus indicators, semantic headings and labeled controls support navigation. No animation or audio is needed to reach content. The accessibility target is WCAG 2.2 AA; a completed conformance audit is not claimed.

About the artwork and guidance.

The illustrations come from the original book’s physical pages 4, 24, 28 and 32, checked against the complete PDF. They remain intact. Historical artwork is interpretive, not documentary evidence. Decorative ripple lines are interface ornament; no generated supporting images have been used.

The board and suggested grown-up responses are original companion material. They are not diagnosis, therapy, an AAC assessment, a replacement for a familiar communication system, or a claim of clinical benefit.

Grown-up questions and accessibility support.

A parent or trusted grown-up can contact Sloan’s Bedtime Lights through the publisher’s site. Please describe an access problem without including a child’s private details. This companion does not collect contact messages.
